
Thomas H. Lyons has served as Consul at the United States Consulate General in Sapporo, Japan since August 2009. His duties include promoting commercial and economic relations and providing consular services to Americans in Hokkaido, Aomori, Akita, Iwate and Miyagi.
Mr. Lyons joined the United States Foreign Service in May 2003. Prior to arriving in Sapporo, he served as Vice Consul and Economic Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He has also served for 16 years as an officer in the U.S. Navy, including 10 years active duty.
Mr. Lyons earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (International Relations) (1993) and Master of Arts in Political Science (1994) from Auburn University.
Mr. Lyons is accompanied in Sapporo by his wife Hiromi and daughter Rioghna.
