About Sapporo American Center Reference Service (SACRS)
Go to Japanese
An American Center Reference Service (ACRS) is located in each of the five American Centers in Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo). The Sapporo American Center Reference Service (SACRS) contains specialized periodicals and reference materials that focus on U.S. politics, economics, history, literature, art, U.S. policy, international relations, and American society. For students, we have information on studying in the United States. The facilities are equipped with internet access and electronic databases for journalists, researchers, government officials and other opinion leaders who need current information and recent policy statements by senior American officials.
The SACRS staff is well-prepared to handle various inquiries regarding the United States, particularly about U.S. policies, U.S.-Japan relations, international relations, security, politics, economics, law, and social issues. The SACRS staff also can provide information on alternative sources and research methods. The other service we provide is the so-called "Listserve" service, which sends up-to-date information on U.S. policy, economics and other hot topics, via e-mail to registered members.
All the materials at the SACRS are open to the general public but may not be checked out. We accept general inquiries by phone, fax, postal mail, and e-mail. Should you need to visit SACRS for specialized assistance, please contact our staff in advance and make a reservation.
